Welcome to 1st Welshpool Rangers

Welshpool RangersWelshpool Rangers are one of the only Ranger units in the area and meet every Thursday night. At Rangers, young women aged 14 to 26 are given the opportunity to achieve many different things. Rangers are self-governing and choose their own activities from the Ranger “Look Wider” programme. This helps to develop skills for life and encourages girls to help others in their community. Most of the Rangers in Welshpool are also Young Leaders with Rainbow, Brownie ad Guide Units in the area.

 

Welshpool RangersWelshpool Rangers enjoy camping, especially the annual camp by the sea in North Wales. Over the last few years Rangers from Welshpool have represented Girlguiding Cymru on trips to Denmark, Finland, Poland, Canada and Mexico. Thailand has been visited as part of a GOLD project: Guiding Overseas Linked to Development. In 2008 members have been invited to visit New Zealand, Switzerland and Kenya.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award operates at Welshpool Rangers and many girls have completed the challenge successfully. Two Rangers have recently received the Queens Guide Award – the highest Guiding award a Ranger can gain.
