Montgomery Rangers Day on the Water
Saturday, 19th September the Montgomery Rangers spent a day taking the air on a horse drawn narrow boat. Organized by the Rangers as part of a Centenary launch, the Rangers experienced a part of what life would have been like on a typical narrow boat during the industrial revolution.
Montgomery Peace Parade
The County Service of Remembrance & Commitment To World Peace was
held in Montgomery on the 10th May.
The salute was taken by Lord Lieutenant, The Hon. Mrs Sian Legge-Bourke. The High Sheriff of Powys, local dignitaries, Deputy Lieutenants, Mayors, Chairmen of Councils traveled from all over Wales to attend the event. There were representatives from Montgomeryshire Girlguiding, Scouting, Newtown & Welshpool Air and Army Cadets.
The service was held in St. Nicholas' Church and was followed by a march past the saluting base in the Town Square. The afternoon ended with tea and cakes in the Town Hall provided by Montgomery W.I.

Montgomery Brownies Big Sleepover
The British Telecom Giant Sleepover took place on Saturday 14th June 2008 and was huge fun for our Brownie unit. Tens of thousands of children from across the globe were encouraged to join a community of ‘kids that care’ and sleepover to help raise money for their favourite children’s charities, including Save the Children. Montgomery Mayor Making
Friday 6th June saw the proceedings for the making of the new Mayor of Montgomery. Montgomery new Mayor is Wendy Davies, successor to Paulene Jones. The evening started with speeches from Councilors Madge Richards and Mayor Paulene Jones. Thanks were given by Paulene for the help and assistance offered by various Councilors, friends and family during Paulene's term in office. The Council adjourned for a brief time to assist the new Mayor with her official attire. The evening ended with the new Mayor thanking the people of Montgomery and providing a vision of the future while in her term of office. Click here or on the photo to see more photos
County Service Of Commitment to World Peace and Remembrance
The County service was held in Montgomery on the 11th May 2008. Representatives from the County turned up to support the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Powys, Lord Davies. A service was held in the Church and afterwards in the square a March Past the Saluting base ending in tea at the Town Hall.
